The southern coast has preserved all its beauty and spectacular scenery, with tall cliffs rich in caves and marine grottos, deep coves lined with white sandy beaches, and juniper-fringed shores.
The area where we are located is close to a Site of Community Importance, which spans 3713 hectares, including 1254 hectares of marine area, entirely within the municipality of Teulada. It covers the stretch of coast between Punta della Torre and Cala di Arrespiglia, including Capo Teulada and Porto Tramatzu, with the adjacent Red Island.
Inland, the Site of Community Importance includes Monte Lapanu and Cala Arrespiglia, where Mediterranean scrubland and maquis dominate. Within its territory are nuraghi, ports, settlements, and necropolises dating back to the Phoenician-Punic-Roman period, seventeenth-century Spanish towers, and nineteenth-century mines.
In all the white beaches along the coast, the seagrass (Posidonia oceanica) is not collected. This marine plant is highly beneficial to the ecosystem, especially due to its role in oxygenating the sea. In the sandy beaches of Teulada and neighboring municipalities, there are projects in place to protect the sand dunes. We also ask for your commitment to safeguarding these shores.
The naturalistic importance of this place drives us day by day to commit to defending this land, allowing us to share its beauty with you in a sustainable way.
